L’influence tangible qu’offre la peinture au sein de l’espace architectural est au centre de l’œuvre d’ Anders Sletvold Moe. Ses installations sont des investigations sur la peinture, aussi bien en tant que médium qu’en tant que substance. Il travaille sur les murs blancs des galeries l’accueillant, les manipulant de toutes les manières possibles : que ce soit en peignant des surfaces, en sculptant des formes ou encore en modifiant l’espace. Les couleurs et les dimensions de ses composants suintent, créant ombres et reflets, illustrant ainsi les qualités illusoires des différents matériaux.

Sous les surfaces vierges de ses œuvres, on peut occasionnellement  détecter une pointe d’humour espiègle qui ne permet cependant jamais d’interrompre la sérénité qui règne au sein de ses installations.

L’art d’Anders Sletvold Moe s’est développé dans les traditions du minimalisme. Ses œuvres questionnent la nature  des matériaux et la relation qu’ils entretiennent les uns par rapport aux autres : comment peuvent-ils refléter, affecter, ou en dominer d’autres.

Les créations de Sletvold Moe sont parfois des références à l’histoire de l’art d’une manière presque schématique ; il nous rappelle des artistes comme John MacCracken, James Turell, Donald Judd ou bien encore Dan Flavin.

En revanche son travail ne se limite pas à un simple ensemble de schémas et d’illustrations. Sa maîtrise des matériaux est en elle-même impressionnante, mais le spectateur se voit également offrir la possibilité de voir quelque chose au-delà, de faire face à l’intangible, comme la sensation d’être face à quelque chose de démesuré et d’irréductible. Les différentes surfaces et  nouveaux angles spatiaux bouleversent notre sens habituel de la perception, nous guidant vers un certain au-delà. Ainsi, les œuvres d’Anders Sletvold Moe agissent comme un appel et entraîne l’esprit loin des phénomènes classiques de la perception.

Anders Sletvold Moe is born in 1978 in Steinkjer, Norway.
He has graduated from Malmö Art Acedemy in 2006 and has exhibited widely in Norway and Sweden, receiving commissions for works and public art.

Sletvold Moe works with the physical presence and tangible influence of Painting in architectural space. His works are investigations of painting, both as a medium and as a substance. Sletvold Moe deals with the white gallery walls, manipulating them in a variety of ways either by painting surfaces, sculptural forms or spatial modifications. The colours and dimensions of these components seep out, creating shadows and reflections, exemplifying the illusory qualities of various materials.

Below the works pristine surfaces there can occasionally be detected a vein of mischievous humour that is however never permitted to break out to disturb the reigning serenity of the installations.
This is an art that has developed in the tradition of minimalism. The works are Investigations into the nature of and the relationships between materials, how they reflect, affect, or dominate one another.

Sletvold Moe ́s works sometimes referance art history in an almost diagrammatical manner; we are reminded of artist such as John MacCracken, James Turell, Donald Judd, or Dan Flavin.

Sletvold Moe ́s work is however not reducible to a set of diagrams and illustrations. The mastery of materials is in itself impressive, but we are also given a possibility to see something beyond this, to be faced with the intangible, a sense of something enormous and irreducible. The various surfaces and new spatial angles upset our habitual sense of perception, allowing us a glimpse or something beyond. The major function of the works is the possibility they offer to train the mind away from phenomena and towards a sense of the essential.
